In the Education Hill Neighborhood…
The Brighton Place neighborhood is located off of NE 111th Street, at the northern end of Education Hill. Last summer, many families (parents and kids too!) pitched in over 100 hours of labor to improve two large cul-de-sac islands in their neighborhood. The landscaping within the islands had become overgrown and posed a hazard to drivers who could not see around them. New shrubs and other features have been installed and the islands have become popular gathering areas. “We really enjoyed the work days and coming together as a community. While the actual project was a huge success, the community building and involvement of the children in the neighborhood far exceeded our expectations”, stated Donna O’Connor, who led the effort.
In the Overlake Neighborhood…
The Marymoor Hill Neighborhood is located on West Lake Sammamish Parkway, south of NE 51st Street. The homeowners’ association determined that the entry to the neighborhood needed a little “TLC” and proposed needed repairs to the drainage system, landscaping and a restored subdivision sign. With the assistance provided through the neighborhood matching fund, they are presenting a new and improved face on a busy arterial.
In the Willows/Rose Hill Neighborhood…
Neighbors in the Willows Crest subdivision enjoy a neighborhood park which they have maintained and improved with the assistance of the neighborhood matching fund. They are now working to restore tables and benches as well as install new furniture and improve the surface under the play structure.
