Your Mind sharp
As the years go by, many people begin to have concerns about keeping their mind sharp. Fear of mental decline is often the reason seniors turn to working the word puzzles in the daily paper or seek out mental stimulus like playing bridge. Some even spend money on expensive computer programs to exercise their mind.
While mental stimulus is important, the jury is still out as to how much it helps to maintain mental decline. But take heart; there is a proven way to help maintain your mental function - physical exercise.
The brain functions best when it receives a good supply of oxygen. Oxygen is carried in your blood and the heart pumps the blood best when you are exercising. So we all need to move our body to help our brain work better.
Have you ever taken a walk to clear your mind and by the time you got back you had figured out the problem that prompted you to take the walk? Research has shown that school children perform better in academic tasks after they participated in physical exercise.
So get up and move. Your brain will thank you. And if you need help finding enjoyable physical activity come see us at the RSC. We offer a wide variety of exercise opportunities - table tennis, dancing, walking groups, fitness classes and more!
Open Monday through Thursday 8:30 am to 9 pm and Fridays 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Trash or Treasures Antique/Collectible Appraisals
Have you been wondering about the value of the best piece in your collection?
Are you curious about that special piece of costume jewelry your great aunt left you?
That vase you picked up at an estate sale?
How about those lovely linens that were your great grandmothers?
In the spirit of the “Antiques Roadshow,” expert appraisers will provide oral market values of individual items. Who knows, you might have a fortune tucked away in the attic. Come join us for a fun day and maybe a nice surprise.
The fee is $5 per item (limit 6 per person), all proceeds benefit the RSC. Sorry, no furniture appraisals available. Appointment times are approximate. Be sure to bring paper and pencil so you can take notes.
Registration opens May 3 for Redmond residents and May 10 for non-Redmond residents. Call 425-556-2314 for a more detailed flyer/registration form. Early registration strongly encouraged as last year we sold out!
