The trees are blooming, birds are singing and spring has arrived in Redmond. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors, now is the perfect time!
Spring Break Camps
For the kids, spring break is just around the corner. If Disneyland or Daytona Beach isn’t quite in the budget this year, think about signing your son or daughter up for a Spring Break Camp at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 NE 80th Street. An affordable option close to home, full and half day camps are offered in a variety of topics ranging from art to technology, as well as engineering…that is, LEGO engineering! Visit the online Recreation Guide for a full list of programs.
If you don’t want to commit to a week of activities for the kids, think about coming to one of the two Easter themed “egg-citing” events. “The Great Eggscape” takes place on Friday, April 2 from 6-9pm at Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park and is a flashlight egg hunt targeted towards ‘tweens and teens.
A more traditional egg hunt takes place on Saturday, April 3 from 8-11:30am at the Redmond Senior Center, and is targeted towards younger children. However, all are welcome and there will be age appropriate activities at both. Visit the online Recreation Guide for more information.
Other Activities for Spring
Redmond Parks & Recreation also has several events coming up that are completely free to attend and provide the opportunity to connect with friends, neighbors and Parks & Recreation staff.
Arbor Day will be celebrated April 14 from
4-6pm at Cascade View Park (at the corner of NE 40th Street and 162nd Avenue). Bring your work gloves and don’t forget your garden trowel if you’d like to participate in the ceremonial tree plantings and help pot
some seedlings!

Are furry creatures more your style than the great outdoors? Head over to the Redmond Senior Center (8703 160th Avenue NE) on Saturday, May 15 from 10am to 3pm for the 2nd Annual Whiskers, Wings & Wagging Tails Pet Fair.
Pet adoptions, vendors, dog sport demonstrations, a doggy fashion show and much more will take place. Well mannered, house trained pets are welcome as well.
Ever heard of Juel Park?
It’s recently received a bit of a face lift and is now ready to show off what it has to offer the community!
Remember there’s even more going on through Redmond Parks & Recreation that can be found in the Redmond Recreation Guide. Registration for spring/summer programs starts March 23 for Redmond residents. Pick up a copy of the Recreation Guide at a City building near you, or visit the City’s website for a complete list of program offerings.
Remember, It’s always a Great Day to Play!
