Begin in January 2011
The City has given the green light to its new Safety Camera Pilot Program. The program will run for one year beginning with a 30-day warning period on January 2011. At the end of 2011, the City will evaluate its effectiveness and determine whether it will become permanent.
This program will install safety cameras at three intersections and in one school zone within Redmond. Earlier this year, the City performed a study at several intersections and school zones and identified those in the pilot program as needing additional enforcement.

City and PSE Partner to Save Energy
The City of Redmond is working together with Puget Sound Energy (PSE) and its partner, OPower, on a demonstration program to support homeowners’ efforts to increase home energy efficiency. Participants will receive regular reports telling them where they stand in comparison to similar homes in their neighborhood with respect to energy use (both electricity and gas).
The first report will be sent to homeowners beginning in mid-November by OPower, with an introductory letter from Redmond Mayor, John Marchione.
The program also includes energy efficiency offers and rebates most relevant to participating households. The demonstration program is funded through an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block grant received from the US Department of Energy and matching funds from Puget Sound Energy.
