Project Description: The 36th Street Bridge will provide a key connection across SR 520 for the Overlake neighborhood. The project will create an additional connection between the two major north-south arterials through the area: 148th Ave. NE and 156th Ave. NE. This connection will improve traffic circulation and mobility and help alleviate congestion currently experienced on both the 148th Ave. NE and the NE 40th St. interchanges. With increased development of the Overlake area, including a mix of high-density housing, retail and commercial space, the need for this alternate freeway crossing is critical.

The bridge will provide improved pedestrian and bike connections across SR 520 and include connections to the SR 520 Trail.  By providing an additional link across SR 520 the project is expected to significantly reduce the number of vehicle miles travelled per year for the entire Overlake area.
